"To see the world, things dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, draw closer, to find each other, and to feel. That is the meaning of life."

Who am I? In short, my name is Jared Allen and I'm about to embark on a physical and spiritual 89 day voyage. Okay, on the surface I'm simply studying abroad in Spain but who says it can't be more than that...

For those of you who know me, you may consider me your quintessential Walter Mitty. Someone who simply has more dreams and goals than you can shake a stick at. At the moment it's beginning to dawn on me that only a year remains in what some call "the best time of your life". But then what? Will National Geographic heroically hoist me from the quicksand that most college grads are drowning in and hire me full time to travel the world for them? Remember, I did say I had a lot of dreams.

For the moment, I plan to mosey into that daydream, immersing my naive, wide-eyed self into our inharmonious world.

I can think of a few other lively words that fit me: Headstrong. Intrepid. Undeniably good-looking. Imaginably this monumental journey I'm plunging into, and hopefully you as well, could lead to me being detained in a foreign country after the Europol confiscate my Nutribullet as a weapon, sobbing like Tom Hanks, "Wilson!!!," as they lock away God's gift to compulsive healthy eaters. All of which would be comprehensibly broadcasted on your local news leading to countless "I told you so's" from my mother.

My mission: To live out these three months in Europe like they're my last, well simply because they very well could be. I don't have any plans to visit any specific countries and will go where the yellow brick road takes me. Sounds wild right?

This blog is a tale of a young man, a story teller, who has no idea of what he's getting into or what lies ahead. This is my European version of "On the Road", albeit with more sleepless nights in hostels, struggles to purchase a simple burrito bowl from Chipotle and the fending off of pickpockets. Fortunately it won't cost you $15 at Barnes & Noble. Want to join me? Of course you do, why wouldn't you want to chuckle at my whimsical escapades.
